São Paulo runs 1 or 2 hours ahead of Miami
São Paulo stays on Brasília Time (BRT, UTC-3) all year. Miami shifts between Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5) and Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4). The gap flips twice a year.
Book your call for the morning. The entire workday overlaps.
When Miami is on standard time, São Paulo is 2 hours ahead
From the first Sunday of November until the second Sunday of March, Miami runs on EST. São Paulo stays on BRT.
A 09:00 breakfast in Miami means an 11:00 start in São Paulo. A 16:00 Miami conference call catches São Paulo offices at 18:00, right at close. Schedule it before 15:00 Miami time instead.
When Miami is on daylight time, São Paulo is 1 hour ahead
Miami springs forward to EDT on Sunday 8 March 2026 at 02:00 local. The gap shrinks to a single hour.
A 09:00 Miami start is 10:00 in São Paulo. A 17:00 Miami call rings at 18:00 São Paulo, still inside business hours. Use the summer window for late-afternoon meetings that would fail in winter.
Miami falls back to EST on Sunday 1 November 2026 at 02:00 local. The gap widens again overnight.
Why São Paulo never changes its clocks
Brazil abolished daylight saving time in 2019. São Paulo stays fixed at UTC-3. You never need to check whether Brazil “springs forward.”
Jet lag is negligible. Flying São Paulo to Miami, you land roughly the same hour you departed, local time. No special adjustment is required.
Best hours to call São Paulo from Miami
Miami offices typically open 09:00 and close 17:00. São Paulo offices run 08:00 or 09:00 to 18:00. The overlap is nearly perfect.
